Same as the CC8 microphone, the CC8-SC also uses the OCC7 condenser capsule inspired by the legendary CK1 capsule. Small diaphragm microphones are often used as spot microphones in ensembles or for other applications where a high degree of focus on the sound source is desired. We have modified the acoustics of the CC8-SC in such a way that we obtain a very well developed supercardioid polar pattern, with which we can efficiently block sound coming from the side.
The OCC7 capsule with true condenser technology combined with the transformerless circuitry delivers a remarkably linear frequency response. The microphone can handle extremely high sound pressure levels, which in combination with a low self noise of only 13 dB (A) results in an impressive dynamic range. Fast transients and spatial information are captured in detail and, above all, without distortion. The CC8-SC always sounds naturally open and is neither harsh nor sharp, even at extreme volumes. Unwanted resonances do not occur, which means that EQ can be used for creative sound shaping.
